To realize the complete differences between science and religion. Let the students know about the task for the doctors does not just rely on the prays but on the scientific method which they believe in.

Understanding the whole lesson by explaining main language points and key grammatical structures

Understanding and translating the difficult sentences correctly by medical knowledge

I.Lead-in (10min):

1.Background Information and basic knowledge of religions.

2.History of medicine and history of religion, then history between both of them.

3. making students to think something about these by warm-up  Activity

II. Analysis of the text (50min)

1.   structure of the text

2.   important words and phrases

3.   difficult sentences

4.   relationship between doctors and patients

5.  translation of  the difficult sentences

III. Discussion (20min):

1. Do you believe in any religion? If yes, in what aspect, do you think, your religion helps you?

2. What do you think about the relation between science and religion?

3. Will you give religion a place in your own medical practice in the future?

IV.  Summary (10min)

Relationship between d执业护士网octors and patients are very important. Whether we should pray for the patients and involve in the treatment of the patient is a big problem. Religion in western world means a lot to people.

Centuries ago, there was no clear divide between biology and acts of God in the genesis of an illness or the physical and spiritual components of it treatment.

In the modern era , religion and science are understanding to be sharply divided, the two occupying very different domains.

V. Reflection:

95 percent of Americans believe inGod including many doctors. Many patients want their physicians to be engagedin their spiritual lives and pray for them. It seems alien to us Chinese peoplewho don’t have religious life. But one thing is for sure, a doctor’s words havegreat power for a patient, they can help to heal, and they can do great harm. Agood doctor is the one using heart not the mind only.
